Lois Marie Stratton, 86, of Sun City, AZ, a long-time Janesville resident died June 24, 2016 at Amethyst Assisted Living in Peoria, AZ. She was born on June 15, 1930 in Grand Rapids, MI, the daughter of Arthur and Marie (Luyk) Trendt. She was a resident of Janesville from 1931 until moving to Arizona in 2009. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1948. Lois married Frank Stratton on November 10, 1951 at Cargill United Methodist Church in Janesville. She worked as secretary for the Janesville Recreation Department and then after her marriage served with the Internal Revenue Service both in New York City and Janesville. After taking time out to raise her family, she worked as executive secretary for the Private Industry Council of Rock County, retiring in 1992. Lois was a member of Christ Community Church in Paradise Park, AZ where she sang in the choir and as a soloist. While in Janesville, she was a long-time member of Cargill United Methodist Church where she directed the pre-school choir, sang in the choir and as a soloist, served on the nominating and music committees She was a member of the Methodist Women’s Society, where she held numerous offices and was a former member of Zonta International.
Lois is survived by her husband, Frank of Sun City; 3 children: Michael (Chris) Stratton of Hartland, WI, David (Donna) Stratton of South Milwaukee, WI, and Lisa (Terry) Zahn of Janesville, WI. Also, 3 grandchildren that she greatly enjoyed and loved; Madeline, Angeline and Daniel. She is also survived by her brother, Gordon (Georgiana) Trendt of Janesville, WI; nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lee.
No services will be held in Janesville. Private entombment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park Mausoleum, Janesville, WI. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers’ Association or the Sage Hospice, 2111 North Scottsdale Road, Suite 204, Scottsdale, AZ 85250. The Stratton family is being assisted by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, Janesville, WI.
